Detailed Narrative Description of the Project:

 

The coastal polders of the South-western Area of Bangladesh was severely damaged by the Cyclone-AILA of 25 May 2009. This Cyclone-AILA caused heavy damages to the existing infrastructure in 4 polders viz; polder nos. 5, 15, 31 & 32 of Khulna and Satkhira districts of Bangladesh. These structures include flood control embankments, river bank protection works, irrigation and drainage canals, Sluices, Bridges & Culverts.  

 

On appeal of the Bangladesh Water Development Board, ADB agreed to grant loan for the rehabilitation work of these damages. BWDB has been assigned the responsibility to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructures and so the consultant is engaged for design, supervision and monitoring the construction  works of the rehabilitation activities  in 4 polders.

 

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by our Staff:

 

The consultant provided the following services:

 

·         Review & update the damage assessment already prepared by the Executing Agency;

·         Detailed design of the damaged structures; 

·         Assist in preparation and evaluation of tender;

·         Supervision & quality control of construction works, certification of contractors bill for payment;

·         Assessment of impact on environment;

·         Project management and monitoring.
